Comic-Con 2013: ‘Walking Dead’ Season 4 Premiere Date Announced, Trailer Released (Video)

16-episode season will air in two parts, with final eight episodes kicking off in Feburary 2014

Season 4 of AMC's zombie hit "The Walking Dead" will premiere Oct. 13 at 9 p.m., the network said Friday.

AMC also released a trailer for the season on Friday.

The 16-episode season will take a break after airing its first episodes, and will return February 2014.

In the run-up to the Season 4 premiere, AMC will air a "Walking Dead" marathon running from Oct 7 straight through to the Season 4 debut.

"In the highly anticipated new season, we find Rick and the group fostering a thriving community in the safe haven of the prison," AMC said of the upcoming Season 4. "Sadly, in this brutal world, happiness is short-lived and walkers and outside threats are no match for danger brewing inside the fences.  The group’s home and new way of life will be thoroughly tested, and their struggle to survive has never been so perilous."
