“The Dark Knight Rises” will play in theaters as scheduled, as Warner Bros. has decided not to cancel any screenings of the film in the wake of a shooting in Colorado early Friday morning that claimed 12 lives and left 59 wounded.
The massacre at the Aurora, Colo., Century 16 theater is the largest mass shooting in U.S. history.
“We are not cancelling any screenings or showings of the film,” Warner Bros. spokeswoman Sue Fleischman told TheWrap.
The studio will continue to monitor the situation and has not made any decisions about changing its marketing approach.
The Saturday night members' screening at the Academy's Beverly Hills headquarters will go ahead as scheduled, but a planned post-screening Q&A with cinematographer Wally Pfister has been cancelled.
NBC, CSB and ESPN have pulled ads for the movie.
