Campers, it’s all happening: the crew of “Wet Hot American Summer” will reunite on August 4 in Netflix’s “Wet Hot American Summer: 10 Years Later.” Amy Poehler, Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Banks, Marguerite Moreau, Christopher Meloni — all will be back to reprise their roles at Camp Firewood, this time all grown up.
One character will look a lot different, though: Bradley Cooper’s Ben sure resembles Adam Scott. Ben was Susie’s boyfriend (who was not interested in boys) in the 2015 series “First Day of Camp,” but due to scheduling conflicts (Cooper is busy filming “A Star is Born” with Lady Gaga) Scott took over the role.
The joke is that the character of Ben might look different because he got plastic surgery to “fix his deviated septum,” but everyone at camp thinks he doesn’t look that different.
In the clip above, Ben and Susie reunite for the first time after a decade. “Susie! Oh my god!” Ben says when he sees his ex. “You have a frickin’ baby!” Susie returns.
Ben then gets concerned, gesturing to his face. “Hey, I don’t know if you noticed, but I…”
“I did,” Susie says. “Did you fix your deviated septum? That’s all that matters.” The two hug, and she adds, “You look amazing, even better than before.”
This reunion is sure to inspire some laughs, not only because of the absurdity but because it’s also a reunion of another comedy couple: Ben Wyatt and Leslie Knope from “Parks and Recreation.”
“The character’s name is Ben, so we did have a moment where we see each other and she screams ‘Ben!’” Scott told EW of the reunion. “And we were both like ‘Whoa, okay. Hold on.’”
