Watch China’s Richest Man Wanda Group CEO Wang Jianlin Rock the House (Video)

The billionaire surprised employees by breaking out in song at company’s annual gala

Wang Jianlin, the founder and chairman of China’s Dalian Wanda Group, is the country’s richest man and one of Hollywood’s most aggressive buyers, having spent billions on entertainment companies this year alone. He’s also a showman himself, as he demonstrated at Wanda’s big bash — and it’s all on video.

At Wanda’s annual gala held on Jan. 14, Wang surprised employees by breaking out in song for the second consecutive year, according to a statement released by the company that also helpfully identified the billionaire’s set list.

Wang opened with a performance of “Nothing to My Name” by Cui Jian before transitioning into “Friends,” another Chinese rock classic. The CEO then showed that he can handle other styles, belting out a traditional Huangmei opera and “Waiting,” a love song.

The outspoken exec — who hasn’t been afraid to let Hollywood have a piece of his mind — has become one of the industry’s biggest spenders since Wanda acquired the parent of AMC Theatres for $2.6 billion in 2012.

This year alone, Wanda acquired “Jurassic World” production company Legendary Entertainment for $3.5 billion, spent $1 billion to buy Dick Clark Productions, and made AMC the world’s largest theater chain through bolt-on acquisitions of European exhibitor Odeon & UCI and U.S. chain Carmike Cinemas. Wanda was also reported to be interested in buying a minority stake in Paramount Pictures, until owner Viacom pulled that deal off the table.

But is he as impressive a singer as he is a dealmaker? Judge for yourself in the video above.
