Sony has released a new TV spot for “All the Money in the World,” in which we can finally see Christopher Plummer taking on the role of J. Paul Getty — a part he replaced Kevin Spacey as after the “House of Cards” star was cut due to sexual misconduct allegations.
In the TV spot, Plummer’s Getty can be seen talking to reporters in an iconic scene where the mogul tells them he wouldn’t pay anything to retrieve his kidnapped grandson, J. Paul Getty III, who was kidnapped in Rome as the abductors demand $17 million for the teenager’s safe return.
Getty founded the Getty Oil Company, was an avid art collector, and also was once the richest man in the world.
“All the Money in the World,” was directed by Ridley Scott, also stars Michelle Williams and Mark Wahlberg.
Spacey’s professional life has unraveled quickly since “Star Trek: Discovery” star Anthony Rapp accused him of making sexual advances when the latter was 14 years old. More than a dozen men subsequently came forward with allegations of sexual misconduct by the Oscar winner.
Spacey’s agency CAA and publicist Staci Wolfe both fired the actor. Netflix cut ties with the star of its hit drama “House of Cards,” and he is facing two criminal investigations by London police for sexual assault.
Even with reshoots, “All the Money in the World” is expected to hit theaters on Dec. 22.
