White House Press Secretary will likely face questions on federal action in the wake of the Las Vegas massacre

White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders will hold a press briefing today.

Sanders’ semi-regular audience with the national media is expected to take place at 2 p.m. ET/ 11 a.m. PT.

Though less combative than her predecessor Sean Spicer, Sanders will likely face tough questions about what, if any, federal action would take place in response to the Sunday night massacre at a Las Vegas country music festival.

On Monday, Sanders repeatedly parried questions from reporters about whether President Trump was rethinking his opposition to gun control.

“Look, this is an unspeakable tragedy. Today is a day for consoling the survivors and mourning those we lost. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of those individuals. There’s a time and place for a political debate, but now is the time to unite as a country,” she told Reuters’ Jeff Mason. “It would be premature to discuss policy when we don’t fully know all of the facts of what took place last night.”

Sanders will also likely face questions about the relationship between Donald Trump and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.

Reporting from NBC News saying that Tillerson called Trump a “moron” and was close to resigning back in July was forcefully refuted by Tillerson during a press conference Wednesday. This morning President Trump spent a second day tweeting his disgust at fake news and NBC and even floated the idea of a Senate investigation into the matter.
