Summer weekends are not party “no fly zones.”
After a stint in New York earlier this summer, the Carrera Sunglasses Escape touched down at the Chateau Marmont Saturday for a day and night of music, lounging and swag.
The Carrera Escape is the same hospitality suite that hosted Emma Roberts and the raucous “Homework” after-party at Sundance last January.
After the opening Sunday screening, the after-party became a “Fox Searchlight-just-bought-the-film” party.
With the change of season to summer, new partners like Venroy Australia asked male guests if they go “above the knee” on shorts, and handed out swimsuits for the pool (which was off limits during the day, but the choice real estate during the evening soiree).
Malin Ackerman, Maria Menounos (pictured left), Jena Malone, Chris Masterson, and Rosario Dawson all escaped behind the wall of the Chateau in to the first Bungalow with the private entrance.
Rumer Willis (pictured at below right) did a deejay apprenticeship under DimMak records fixture Ana Calderon, simultaneously helping push Ludacris’ high end headphone brand “SOUL,” but even she took a break for the live music.
The live tunes came from Samantha Ronson continuing a weekend-long promotional tour for her music group “Samantha Ronson and the Undertakers” with a dueling acoustic guitars set inside the summer-ready Bungalow.
She had played a “muscle and music” night on Thursday at the Roxy as part of the rollout campaign for the new David Barton Gym that is going in to West Hollywood.
In order to properly mesh with the “rock” history of the west end of the Strip, the import gym had to show it could flex musical muscle to be a good neighbor.
During Ronson’s living-room performance on Saturday night, Scotty Granger from Bravo’s songwriting competition “Platinum Hit” gave his own review. “There was one song that was kind of catchy,” he told TheWrap.
On Sunday morning, Jessica Alba, Joel McHale, Jeremy Piven, Alexa Vega, were downtown to premiere “Spy Kids: All The Time in The World in 4D” at L.A. Live. Within the same downtown area, ESPN was wrapping up its four-day weekend of the X-Games, causing the rare Laker off-season crush.
The Kool-Aid Man (the smiley red jug) made an appearance at the youth-oriented party at the ESPN zone, a branding mascot that’s enjoyed a renaissance lately showing up in pop art and multiple times on “Family Guy.”
