The Weinstein Company Taps Negeen Yazdi as VP of Acquisitions & Co-Productions

Executive will oversee day-to-day operations of company’s London office

The Weinstein Company has tapped Negeen Yazdi as vice president of acquisitions and co-productions, based out of the company’s London office. 

In her new position, Yazdi will report to Peter Lawson, executive vice president acquisitions and co-productions, and will be responsible for generating new projects for the studio, as well as cultivating existing creative partnerships with talent and filmmakers.

In addition, Yazdi will be charged with overseeing the day to day operations of the company’s London office.

The Weinstein Company has been very active in the European film market in recent years, having acquired such foreign productions as "The King's Speech," "The Reader" and the upcoming Margaret Thatcher biopic "Iron Lady."  

Most recently Yazdi spent three years at Universal Pictures International (UPI) where she held the position of director, worldwide acquisitions, identifying projects for acquisition and production. 

Prior to UPI Yazdi worked in the Literary Division at Independent Talent Group (formerly known as ICM) on client accounts including; Danny Boyle, Jane Goldman, Joe Wright, Matt Greenhalgh, Julian Jarrold, Philippe Parreno, Mark Tonderai and James Marsh.
