Unless one of the Republican candidates take a Hillary Clinton-like prolonged bathroom break, Fox News does not intend to show an empty podium during tonight’s GOP debate.
Fox News could have set the literal stage for Trump’s GOP rivals to point out the empty podium as a constant reminder of his absence.
But a Fox News spokesperson said the network will remove Trump’s podium. This decision is consistent with Fox Business Network’s decided to remove Sen. Rand Paul’s podium when he refused to participate in the network’s recent undercard debate.
Clinton drew attention last month when she didn’t return on time from a trip to the bathroom during a commercial break during the ABC Democratic debate. ABC continued without her, showing an empty podium in between Bernie Sanders and Martin O’Malley.
