Demonstrators in Milwaukee say they want to “drown out the hate” coming from Republican candidates
As viewers tuned in to watch CNN’s Republican town hall in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on Tuesday, what they didn’t see were the hundreds of demonstrators who took to the streets to protest the event, and specifically Donald Trump.
“It’s awesome that there’s so many people, you know?” one demonstrator told the Fox affiliate in Milwaukee while describing the crowd.
Protesters told local reporters they wanted to “drown out the hate,” specifically that coming from Trump and Ted Cruz.
“This country was founded on immigrants and we’re here together to say ‘we don’t want Trump in office,'” another demonstrator said
Some of the protesters also took part in a protest outside the Donald Trump rally in Janesville, Wisconsin, Tuesday afternoon.
This isn’t the first time Trump has faced protests during an event. Earlier this month, Trump’s campaign was forced to postpone a rally in Chicago after supporters and demonstrators clashed in the streets.
