Since Donald Trump’s election, the idea of a Muslim registry is once again a hot topic. But according to a New York woman, there’s another group of people that we should be monitoring, as well — white men.
Candace Thompson decided to take on the project of protecting the United States from white men by creating “The White Male Registry.”
“As you may or may not know, in America 57% of reported rapes and 64% of mass shootings were committed by white men. 45% of all serial killers are white men,” Thompson wrote in a Facebook post on Thursday. “Forget the nation of Islam, our most immediate threat to domestic security is and always has been white, straight men.”
Thompson’s “White Male Registry,” which is in the form of a Google Doc, begins by asking white men to do their civic duty and register so that we can all “work together to Help Keep America Safe.” The registry asks for simple pieces of information like name, gender, ethnicity and socioeconomic status (there’s a disclaimer that if you’re in the 1 percent, then you will “definitely be hearing from us”).
As of this morning, Thompson reported that 205 “white male patriots” have registered so far.
The post also includes a little note for the president-elect in which Thompson states that she will be adding Trump’s name to the registry and she hopes that he will join her in asking other white men to register for the interest of “national safety.”
Thompson’s Facebook is in protest to Trump’s campaign promise for a Muslim registry that would require immigrants from predominately Muslim countries to register in a database and go through extreme vetting before entering the United States.
