While early coverage of the Japanese earthquake underscored how few media organizations have correspondents there (CBS and CNN were the only two to have live reports from the region) virtually every major news organization is sending staff there for weekend coverage of the disaster — including several figures that dominated breaking news coverage in the Middle East.

>> ABC is sending David Muir, globe-trotting Christiane Amanpour and Clarissa Ward to Japan to anchor "World News," "Good Morning America" and "This Week" this weekend from Japan.
>> CBS is sending three reporters, including "Early Show" ex-pat Harry Smith. They’ll join Lucy Craft, who was among the few reporters to deliver a live report from the region on U.S. airwaves Friday morning.
>> CNN said it is sending Anderson Cooper after his show tonight, joining Kyung Lah, CNN's Toyko-based correspondent, and Paula Hancocks, from the network's South Korea bureau.
>> NBC's Ann Curry, Lester Holt and Ian Williams are in route, according to the Cutline.
>> Fox News is sending three correspondents, including Greg Palkot, who you'll recall was severely beaten while covering the uprising in Cairo last month.
