Will Arnett Joins the Cast of NBC’s Emily Spivey Pilot

“Arrested Development” actor will play Christina Applegate’s stay-at-home husband

Looks like we can scratch Will Arnett off the list of potential candidates to take over for Steve Carell on "The Office."

The funny "Arrested Development" alum, who's been mentioned as a potential replacement for the departing Carell, has landed a starring role in NBC's upcoming comedy pilot, "Untitled Emily Spivey Project."

The series, which is being co-produced by Lorne Michaels and Emily Spivey of "Saturday Night Live" renown, will feature Christina Applegate as Regan, an acerbic working mother who'd never planned to be parent. Arnett will play — who else? — Will, her stay-at-home husband. Maya Rudolph also recently joined the cast.

In addition to a recurring role as Devon Banks on "30 Rock," Arnett starred in the disappointing Fox comedy "Running Wilde" earlier this season.
