Will Smith and Jimmy Fallon Beatbox and Rap ‘It Takes Two’ (Video)

Using iPad app Loopy, the pair recorded their own beatbox backing for the Rob Base & DJ EZ Rock hip-hop classic

Will Smith and Jimmy Fallon didn’t need a band at all to perform the hip-hop classic “It Takes Two” on “The Tonight Show” Thursday night (though that didn’t stop The Roots from chiming in for the chorus). The pair used the iPad app Loopy to create backing tracks that would layer and repeat behind them.

Fallon and Smith took turns performing various beatbox sounds to create drums, bass and even a high hat. Finally, they did the classic backing whoops that recur throughout the 1995 hit by Rob Base & DJ EZ Rock.

Once everything was in place, all that was left was the rapping, which Smith certainly knows a thing or two about.

And with a few “History of Rap” installments under his belt, Fallon has proven himself so slouch in this area as well.

The guys seemed to be having fun with the app, and they absolutely lit up when they could take to the stage for the performance, even pulling the audience into the fun.

Will Smith can next be seen in “Focus,” which hits theaters on Feb. 27. “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. ET on NBC.
