Fox will re-release “Independence Day” in 3D July 4 weekend of 2013, the studio announced on Thursday.

"Independence Day" grossed more than $800 million worldwide during its theatrical run.

Fox reaped $344 million at the global box office from re-releasing “Titanic” in 3D, spurring the decision to convert Roland Emmerich’s science-fiction smash.

The disaster flick stars Will Smith as a Capt. Steve Hiller, a Marine pilot who must save the world from an alien invasion. Bill Pullman and Jeff Goldblum also star.

Smith made his first starring turn in four years this summer in "Men in Black 3."

The announcement was just one of a series of scheduling changes Fox made on Thursday.
