Wilmer Valderrama Joins ‘REM’ Pilot Crew

Former “That ’70s Show” actor lands role in alternate-reality project

The cast of NBC's "REM" pilot fleshed out considerably on Monday, with former "That '70s Show" star Wilmer Valderrama and four others joining a roster that already includes "Abduction" actor Jason Isaacs, the network confirmed on Monday.

The series revolves around Detective Mark Britten (played by Isaacs), who lives two lives following a tragic accident. Valderrama will play Detective Richard Vega, Britten's partner in one reality; Steve Harris, of "The Practice" and "Friday Night Lights," meanwhile, will play Detective Isaiah "Bird" Freeman, Britten's partner in his other reality.

Dylan Minnette, of "Saving Grace" and "Men of a Certain Age," will play Britten's son Rex, who was killed in one of Britten's realities. Laura Allen, recently of the FX series "Terriers," will play Tara, Rex's tennis coach-turned-confidante. B.D. Wong, known for "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," will portray Dr. Lee, Britten's therapist — or, rather, his therapist in the reality in which his son has died.

News of the "REM" castings was first reported by Deadline.com.
