Thoroughbred triumphs at 140th Run for the Roses
Favorite California Chrome won the 140th Kentucky Derby Saturday by nearly two lengths Saturday.
Trainer Art Sherman, 77, is now the oldest horse trainer to win the Derby, and May 3 was co-owner Steve Coburn's birthday.
Hollywood elites on hand at Churchill Downs to watch the race included producer Jerry Bruckheimer, Beth Behrs of CBS’ “2 Broke Girls,” and “Amazing Spider-Man 2” star Jamie Foxx, who was attending his first Kentucky Derby.
The Derby was also former “Good Morning America” correspondent Josh Elliott's debut as an NBC Sports reporter on the main network.
The Kentucky Derby is California Chrome's fifth win in a row. Barring injury, the horse will likely run in the Preakness Stakes in Maryland on May 17, the second race of the Triple Crown.
