Wrap-Ranker Oscars Poll: Who Won for the Wrong Movie?

Martin Scorsese for “The Departed”? Al Pacino for “Scent of a Woman”? Vote for who finally won an Oscar, but for the wrong movie

We want to reward those who have done well. It’s a basic part of our social DNA. It’s the whole reason we have awards season. But when some people go their entire careers without winning an Academy Award, we’re sorely attempted to vote for them, even for a film where they maybe didn’t do their best work.

After being nominated three times, including for “Driving Miss Daisy” and “The Shawshank Redemption,” Morgan Freeman finally won Best Supporting Actor for “Million Dollar Baby.”

Everyone thought he did a great job, but should he have won sooner?

Martin Scorsese finally won Best Director in 2007 for helming “The Departed.” But considering that he had previously been nominated for “Taxi Driver,” “Raging Bull” and “Goodfellas” (regarded as three of the finest films in recent history), did Scorsese’s past career have more to do with his victory?

Al Pacino, one of the greatest American actors, was passed over for his work in “The Godfather” movies, “Serpico” and “Glengarry Glen Ross.” Was it more for performance or a sense of justice that he won in 1992 for “Scent of a Woman”?

Vote for which stars and directors won Oscars, but for the wrong films.
