‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ Unleashes a ‘Very Brady’ Trailer Tease (Video)

The Instagram video is the latest creative effort from studios to tease upcoming trailers

A new “X-Men: Days of Future Past” trailer teaser makes 20th Century Fox’s follow up to “X-Men: First Class” look like “A Very Brady Sequel.”

The Instagram post (below) features nine characters in nine boxes — accompanied with footage of them in action — to tease the next trailer for the May 23 release directed by Bryan Singer.

The sixth installment of the Fox franchise, based on the Marvel comics, bridges the gap between the first three “X-Men” movies and “First Class,” the prequel directed by Matthew Vaughn. “Past” also serves as a link to James Mangold‘s 2013 hit, “The Wolverine,” which was one of the first studio tentpoles to take advantage of social media video-sharing services to release mini-previews ahead of the trailers audiences see in theaters.

With the world in flames after giant robotic mutant eradicators called Sentinels wage war with mutant kind, Professor Xavier (Patrick Stewart) and Magneto (Ian McKellen) send Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) back in time to convince the younger versions of themselves to stop the Sentinels before it’s too late.

“Days of Future Past” welcomes Singer back to the director’s chair, who hasn’t helmed an “X-Men” movie since 2003’s “X2.”

Joining Singer are new cast members including Peter Dinklage (“Game of Thrones”) as Sentinels creator Bolivar Trask, Omar Sy (“The Intouchables”) as time traveler Bishop, Chinese actress Bingbing Fan as Blink, and Evan Peters (“American Horror Story”) as Quicksilver.
