Zac Efron Drama ‘At Any Price’ Goes to Exclusive Media

Company acquires international rights to drama starring "High School Musical" heartthrob and Denis Quaid

Zac Efron will continue to try to prove that there's life after "High School Musical" by co-starring with Dennis Quaid in the family drama "At Any Price."

Exclusive Media said Monday that it has acquired international rights in all media to the feature film.

Of late, the baby-faced Efron has been trying to take on more adult roles in films like Lee Daniels' upcoming sexually charged thiller "The Paperboy."

In "At Any Price," the attempt to shed his Tommy Kirk-like image continues. Efron will play rebellious Dean Whipple (Efron), who wants to pursue his dream of becoming a professional race car driver, but sees his ambitions derailed after he gets sucked into a high-stakes investigation into his family's farm empire.

Ramin Bahrani ("Chop Shop") will direct the film, which co-stars Heather Graham ("The Hangover") and Kim Dickens ("Footloose"). Bahrani co-wrote the film with Hallie Elizabeth Newton.

Alex Walton, Exclusive Media’s president of international sales and distribution will present the film to international buyers at the Cannes Film Festival. CAA is representing the domestic rights to the film.

The film is produced by Black Bear Pictures, TreeHouse Pictures, Killer Films and Noruz Films. Producers are Pamela Koffler, Teddy Schwarzman, Justin Nappi, Kevin Turen, Christine Vachon and co-writer/ director Bahrani. Ron Curtis, Mo Al Turki, Eric Nyari and Brian Young serve as Executive Producers.

The rights deal was negotiated by Schwarzman of Black Bear Pictures with Exclusive Media’s Walton.
