Zendaya and comedian Julie Klausner are the latest Hollywood stars to get into a Twitter feud.
When Zendaya won favorite female TV star in a kids show at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards Saturday, the actress publicly thanked said “all the parents out there” for allowing her “to be a role model” for children.
“I really, really do not take that for granted,” she said in her acceptance speech, which was met with criticism from Klausner — the creator of Hulu series “Difficult People” — who tweeted out the speech and added the comment, “and thinspo model for your impressionable tweens.”
The comedian continued to criticize Zendaya’s frame on Twitter, referencing Giuliana Rancic‘s comments over the actress’ Oscars appearance, and even claimed Zendaya has “an eating disorder.”
“Zendaya’s ultimate retort to Giuliana Rancic is starving herself down to the size of one of her elbowz,” said Klausner. “You don’t have to have an eating disorder to attend the Kids’ Choice Awards… but it helps!”
Zendaya was quick to fire back at the comedian: “Do you find this funny? I will write another paragraph to educate you as well #youreallywannabenext?”
“Now… everyone go look in the mirror at their beautiful body, and love that sh-t #thickgirlswinning #skinnygirlswinning #weallwinning.”
Instead of apologizing, Klausner continued to attack Zendaya, although she did mention that “all women are beautiful.”
“I will never stop criticizing celebs who perpetuate dangerous beauty standards for a generation of girls who grow up thinking they’re fat,” added Klausner. “I’m concerned with the generation of girls who aspire to look like Zendaya. I do not worry about Zendaya’s health or care whether she eats.”
