One person was killed and four others were injured in a stabbing and a police shooting on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood on Tuesday afternoon, TheWrap has learned.
Officers responded to a call about a stabbing that came in at 1:58 p.m. from the area near CNN’s building in Hollywood, Los Angeles Fire Department spokesperson Margaret Stewart told TheWrap.
Three victims have been treated for stab wounds, and the fourth refused medical treatment. Two of the victims are in critical conditions.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, police shot and killed the man suspected of committing the stabbings inside a Jack-in-the-Box restaurant on Sunset Boulevard. He has not yet been identified.
The incident took place on Sunset Boulevard, near the CNN building. CNN reporter Maeve Reston tweeted on Tuesday afternoon that a man “ran down Sunset Blvd. trying to stab people.”
A witness described the incident in an interview with KTLA.
“Two [officers] just jet into the side door of the Jack in the Box, guns drawn, and we hear ‘pop, pop, pop,’” the witness said. “We don’t know what happened inside the Jack in the Box at all.”

For people in LA, alleged stabbing/shooting took place near Jack-in-the-box at Cahuenga & Sunset (across from CNN tower). So avoid the area
