‘9-1-1’: May Is Pissed When New Dispatcher Claudette Hijacks Her Emergency Call (Exclusive Video)

Oh, it’s so awkward

A freak accident becomes even more cringey than usual on Monday’s episode of “9-1-1” when May (Corinne Massiah) has the emergency hijacked by the call center’s newest operator, dispatching legend Claudette (Vanessa Estelle Williams). The only thing more disturbing than watching the 118 deal with their latest disaster is watching Claudette take over May assisting on the disaster, while looking increasingly pissed about having her job compromised in Maddie’s (Jennifer Love Hewitt) absence.

In TheWrap’s exclusive sneak peek from tonight’s hour, titled “Peer Pressure,” you’ll see just how uncomfortable the whole thing is, as Claudette just walks up and inserts herself in the call May is having a little trouble with. In seconds, Claudette has her headset and May is left staring at Claudette work her magic, clearly upset that she has been pushed aside.

Yeah, it doesn’t help that Bobby (Peter Krause) and the 118 seemed to be pretty impressed by Claudette and grateful for her help with this emergency — which saw a chainsaw go into a man’s neck.

Here’s the official description for tonight’s “9-1-1,” courtesy of Fox: “The members of the 118 face an awkward rescue call when they arrive on the scene of a man who has over-exerted himself exercising. The team also must save the life of a groundskeeper whose chainsaw cut into him and race to an explosion at a retirement community. Meanwhile, Athena has an extreme reaction to Harry’s new behavior. Then, Hen and Eddie, as well as Buck and Ravi, have rocky starts to their new partnerships, and May receives an emergency call from a suicidal teen, while continuing her uneasy work relationship with Claudette.”

Along with Bassett, Krause and Hewitt, “9-1-1” stars Oliver Stark, Aisha Hinds, Kenneth Choi, Ryan Guzman, Rockmond Dunbar, Massiah, Marcanthonee Jon Reis and Gavin McHugh.

“9-1-1” airs Mondays at 8/9c on Fox.
