Lin-Manuel Miranda, Anna Kendrick Audition to Be Stephen Hawking’s New Voice (Video)

“Listen to my voice. It’s deep, it’s sexy, it’s got a tinge of … physics,” says Liam Neeson in Red Nose Day clip

Stephen Hawking is on the market for a new voice after using the same computerized one for over 30 years. Stars like Lin-Manuel Miranda, Liam Neeson, Rebel Wilson and Anna Kendrick want in.

“Stephen, it’s me, surely it has to be me,” Neeson says in a mock-audition reel, made to celebrate Red Nose Day. “Listen to my voice. It’s deep, it’s sexy, it’s got a tinge of … physics.”

Kendrick argues the role should go to her because she’s intelligent (“kind of”) and cool (“kind of”). Other A-listers trying out for the part include Kylie Minogue, Felicity Jones, John Boyega, Simon Cowell and Eddie Redmayne, who actually played the famed physicist in “The Theory of Everything.” The Oscar winner was a little annoyed that he even had to audition.

“So what is it, like a sequel?” he says. “If they want me to go through that again they’re going to have to pay me a s–load of cash.”

“You talk about space… I’ve lived it,” says “Star Wars” star Boyega.

“Yo my name is Lin-Manuel and my voice is dope as hell,” Miranda raps. “So you’re Stephen Hawking from Cambridge college, but your voice is mad robotic if I’m being honest.”

“I want a new voice but not that badly,” Hawking jokes at one point.

Red Nose Day is an annual fundraising campaign run by the charity Comic Relief — it’s a day where people do something funny for money at school, work or at home. The U.K. celebrates it on Friday; the U.S. on May 25.
