‘Beverly Hills, 90210’ Reboot With Original Cast in the Works

Jennie Garth, Tori Spelling, Jason Priestley, Ian Ziering, Brian Austin Green and Gabrielle Carteris are presently attached

A reboot of the 1990s-era “Beverly Hills, 90210” is in the works at CBS Television Studios, with most of the original cast on board.

Jennie Garth, Tori Spelling, Jason Priestley, Ian Ziering, Brian Austin Green and Gabrielle Carteris are presently attached. That list does not include Shannen Doherty or Luke Perry, but an individual with knowledge of the project said it’s still early in the development process.

The project does not yet have a network attached, but it’s currently being pitched to broadcast and streaming networks. CBS TV Studios declined to comment.

Spelling first teased that she was working on a reboot of the former Fox teen drama back in March in an Instagram post.

The original series, created by Darren Star and produced by Aaron Spelling, ran for 10 seasons between 1990 and 2000. It starred Spelling, Garth, Priestley, Doherty and Perry as students in West Beverly Hills High School in Los Angeles. It led to multiple spinoffs, most notably Fox’s “Melrose Place.”

The CW rebooted it in 2008 under the title “90210,” with Spelling, Garth and Doherty reprising their roles in the first season. It ran for five seasons until 2013.

The new project is written and executive produced by Mike Chessler and Chris Alberghini, both of whom worked on The CW’s reboot and Spelling’s “So Notorious,” with Ghen Maynard on board as well.
