Jan. 5 brings us the first Sunday of 2020, and that means it’s time for the Golden Globes to usher in the true beginning of Hollywood’s awards season. From here it’s a sprint to the Oscars five weeks from now, but with the Globes’ banquet-style setup this will probably be your best chance to see your favorite celebs drinking on television.

If you’re someone who isn’t going to be able to plop down in front of a TV that’s hooked up to cable or an antenna to watch the Golden Globes ceremony when it airs on NBC at 5 p.m. PT, you’re not outta luck, because the Golden Globes ceremony will once again be available for streaming.

It won’t be free, however. In order to stream the Golden Globes broadcast on NBC, you’ll need to use the NBC app or go online to NBC.com in your web browser on a computer, where you can watch NBC’s live feed from whatever is your local affiliate station. And in order to access that live feed, you will need a login with a valid TV provider, whether it be streaming, cable or satellite.

Alternatively, you can stream NBC via a streaming TV service that carries the network — such as Hulu, YouTube TV or AT&T Now — and watch online that way. Many of those services have a free trial you can sign up for if you’ve never used them before, so if you’re looking for a free option that doesn’t involve a bootleg stream, that’s about it.

Meanwhile, the situation with the 2020 Golden Globes red carpet is a little bit more complicated, as was also the case last year, with NBC carrying an NFL playoff game immediately before the ceremony, but you can catch all the details you need right here in our post on that subject.

The 2020 Golden Globes will be hosted, as you may know, by Ricky Gervais, who previously hosted the ceremony in 2016. It’ll be the fifth time overall that Gervais has hosted.
