‘Fosse/Verdon’: Sam Rockwell, Michelle Williams Are All Jazz Hands in First Look at FX Miniseries (Video)

Five, six, seven, eight

FX dropped the first teaser for its upcoming miniseries “Fosse/Verdon” during the 76th Annual Golden Globes Sunday, giving fans a sneak peek at what Michelle Williams and Sam Rockwell look like as the small-screen, fictionalized versions of Broadway legends — and lovers — Gwen Verdon and Bob Fosse.

The short clip begins with a single piano note, the tap of a heel and a standard “Five, six, seven, eight” dance count, before it dazzles us with colors, costumes and jazz hands. But that’s all we’ve got — for now — until the series debuts this April on FX.

The eight-episode limited series is based on Sam Wasson’s “Fosse” biography and tells the story of the singular romantic and creative partnership between the director-choreographer Fosse and the dancer-actress Verdon.

Per FX’s official description: “He was a visionary filmmaker and one of theater’s most influential choreographers and directors, she was the greatest Broadway dancer of all time. Together they changed the face of American entertainment — at a perilous cost.”

The show is set to feature Fosse’s choreography and “explore the hidden corners of show business, the price of pursuing greatness, and the suffering inflicted in the name of art.”

Along with Williams and Rockwell, the cast includes Norbert Leo Butz as playwright Paddy Chayefsky, Margaret Qualley as theater actress Ann Reinking, Aya Cash as Joan Simon, Nate Corddry as playwright Neil Simon and Kelli Barrett as Liza Minnelli.

“Fosse/Verdon” comes from executive producers Lin-Manuel Miranda and “Hamilton” director Thomas Kail, with Steven Levenson and “The Americans” Joel Fields producing.

“Fosse/Verdon” premieres in April on FX.
