David Fincher and “Deadpool” director Tim Miller are teaming up to create an anthology of animated shorts for Netflix, titled “Love, Death & Robots.”

The series will be a collection of 18 animated short stories in genres including science fiction, horror and comedy. Fincher and Miller will executive produce along with Jennifer Miller and Josh Donen. Each episode will be between 5 and 15 minutes long and feature both traditional 2D and photo-real 3D CGI animation.

“‘Love, Death & Robots’ is my dream project, it combines my love of animation and amazing stories. Midnight movies, comics, books and magazines of fantastic fiction have inspired me for decades, but they were relegated to the fringe culture of geeks and nerds of which I was a part,” Miller said. “I’m so f—ing excited that the creative landscape has finally changed enough for adult-themed animation to become part of a larger cultural conversation.”

Netflix has been pushing further into the animation space, and its slate includes upcoming titles “Tuca and Bertie,” “Hoops” and “Carmen Sandiego,” to go along with “BoJack Horseman,” “Disenchantment,” “Big Mouth” and “F is for Family.”

Fincher has previously worked with Netflix on “House of Cards” — he directed the first two episodes in 2013 — and “Mindhunter.”

Miller is currently set to direct the next installment in the “Terminator” film franchise. He helmed the first “Deadpool” movie in 2016, before leaving the sequel over creative differences with star Ryan Reynolds.
