One of the potential TV series that Marvel Studios is developing for Disney’s upcoming streaming service has landed a writer, and it’s from another Marvel Studios property.
Jac Schaeffer, one of the writers for “Captain Marvel,” has been brought on board to write and executive produce the pilot for the series based on Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch, which will also feature Paul Bettany’s Vision, an individual with knowledge tells TheWrap.
“The Vision and Scarlet Witch” is one of a few series that Marvel Studios has in various stages of development for Disney’s forthcoming streaming service, which will launch towards the end of this year. Disney CEO Bob Iger has only confirmed one of them, based around Tom Hiddleston’s Loki, but another series starring Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) and Falcon (Anthony Mackie) is being considered as well.
However, all of those above characters were wiped out of existence by Thanos (Josh Brolin) in the climactic event of last year’s “Avengers: Infinity War.” But with fellow dusted Avenger Spider-Man (Tom Holland) set to star in “Spider-Man: Far From Home” in July, it’s widely expected that April’s “Avengers: Endgame” will bring many, if not all, of the dead characters back.
Disney+ will feature more than a few TV series based on film properties from Disney’s expansive list of properties — which will only grow further once its acquisition of 21st Century Fox’s film and TV assets is complete. Along with the planned Marvel Cinematic Universe spinoffs, the streaming service will have a pair of “Star Wars” TV shows. One of those is a spinoff starring Diego Luna’s character from “Rogue One” while another one, developed by Jon Favreau, is called “The Mandalorian” and will star Pedro Pascal.
