Lady Gaga came away a winner on Sunday night, but she lost something much more dear.

Shortly after she won the award (in a tie with Glenn Close) for Best Actress at the Critics’ Choice Awards, Gaga shared an Instagram post saying that she was rushing to “say goodbye” to her dying horse, named Arabella.

“She is and was a beautiful horse,” the “A Star is Born” actress wrote. “Our souls and spirits were one. When she was in pain, so was I. I will never forget the moments we shared.”

Along with her brief eulogy, Gaga shared a photo of her riding Arabella during a Vanity Fair photo shoot in Italy.

“She will forever be a part of me. I am so very sad. But I wish for your pain to end, and the gates of heaven to open for you. I love you. Girl, where do you think you’re going,” Gaga said, quoting lyrics from her previous album “Joanne.”

Gaga also said that the name Arabella means “yield to prayer.” We found out some more about Arabella and Gaga’s relationship with her horse during the documentary “Gaga: Five Foot Two,” which is currently available on Netflix. In it she suggested that Arabella helped her get through complications with chronic pain and fibromyalgia.
