Former Global Road Executive John Zois Joins Anton as EVP of Acquisitions and Co-Productions

John Zois, a former executive with Global Road and IM Global, has joined the production company Anton as EVP of Acquisitions and Co-Productions, the company announced Friday.

Zois’ mission is to grow the company’s film business and help establish Anton’s TV studio in the U.S. In film, Zois will work alongside London based president of distribution, Harold van Lier, to grow Anton’s slate to 4 to 5 films a year, with budgets of up to $50 million, with a strong focus on kids and family films and and sci-fi films. Zois will report to Anton Founder and CEO Sebastien Raybaud.

“John is an incredibly seasoned and well-liked executive and the perfect person to expand our footprint in the U.S.,” Raybaud said in a statement.

Prior to joining Anton, Zois was the Head of Acquisitions & Co-Productions at Global Road, where he oversaw the acquisition and production of Marc Munden’s “The Secret Garden” starring Colin Firth, as well as John Leonetti’s “The Silence” starring Kiernan Shipka and Stanley Tucci. Zois previously worked at IM Global on such projects as Wayne Roberts’ “Richard Says Goodbye” starring Johnny Depp, and Reed Morano’s “I Think We’re Alone Now” starring Peter Dinklage. In addition, he worked at EuropaCorp and FilmNation on projects such as Lenny Abrahamson’s “Room” and John Madden’s “Miss Sloane” starring Jessica Chastain. Zois began his career at The Gersh Agency.

“Sebastien and the Anton team have created an exemplary business, consistently generating high-calibre content. I am excited to continue to build the global film slate and bring Anton’s successful TV business into the U.S.,” Zois said in a statement.

Founded by Raybaud in 2011, Anton has partnered with StudioCanal on productions such as Non-Stop,” the “Paddington” franchise, and “Shaun the Sheep.”

Their upcoming projects include “Greenland” written by Chris Sparling and produced with Thunder Road, and the animated feature, “Fireheart.” Their TV titles include the recent BBC series “McMafia,” and the upcoming adaptation of Philip Pullman’s “His Dark Materials” for HBO starring James McAvoy and Ruth Wilson and directed by Tom Hooper.
