‘Bad Boys’ Spinoff Series ‘LA’s Finest’ Gets Premiere Date From Charter

First Spectrum Originals series stars Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba

Charter Communications has set the premiere date for its first Spectrum Originals series, the “Bad Boys” spinoff “L.A.’s Finest,” starring Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba.

The first three episodes of the cop drama will be made available for free to subscribers on Spectrum’s On Demand platform on Monday, May 13. The rest of the season will be released weekly each subsequent Monday for the remainder of the 13-episode run.

A spinoff of the “Bad Boys” film series, “L.A.’s Finest” sees Union reprising her role as Syd Burnett from 2003’s “Bad Boys II.” Now an LAPD detective, Syd is paired with a new partner, Nancy McKenna (Alba), a working mom with an equally complex past. Taking on the most dangerous criminals in Los Angeles while skirting the rules, and speed limits, Syd and Nancy become a force to be reckoned with – on the streets, and in each other’s lives.

Zach Gilford, Duane Martin, Ryan McPartlin, Sophie Reynolds and Ernie Hudson also star. Watch a teaser for the series above.

Alba and Union are executive producers on the series alongside Brandon Margolis, Brandon Sonnier, Pam Veasey, Doug Belgrad, Jonathan Littman, KristieAnne Reed, Jeff Gaspin, Jeff Morrone and pilot director Anton Cropper.

The Sony Pictures Television series, first developed as an NBC pilot, is the first foray into the scripted originals space for Charter. It is set to be followed by the U.K. street racing drama “Curfew” from Sky and the Lionsgate crime anthology series “Manhunt,” picked up from Discovery.
