“Luke Cage” star Mike Colter is re-teaming with Robert and Michelle King, joining the cast and playing the male lead on the duo’s CBS drama pilot “Evil.”

Colter will play David DaCosta, a Catholic priest in training, tasked by the church to assess unexplained phenomena to see if there is a supernatural or scientific explanation. Colter had a recurring role as the drug lord Lemond Bishop on the King’s previous CBS drama, “The Good Wife,” and he briefly reprised the character on the CBS All Access spinoff, “The Good Fight.”

Colter joins the pilot’s other lead, Katja Herbers, who has been cast asKristen Benoist,’ a skeptical forensic psychologist working with the Catholic Church, who assesses cases of unexplained phenomena to determine if there’s a scientific or supernatural explanation.

“Evil” examines the battle between science and religion, focusing on a skeptical female clinical psychologist who joins a priest-in-training and a blue-collar contractor as they investigate supposed miracles, demonic possessions, and other extraordinary occurrences to see if there’s a scientific explanation or if something truly supernatural is at work.

The husband and wife duo will executive produce and co-write the pilot, with Liz Glotzer of their King Size Productions banner also aboard as executive producer. CBS Television Studios, where the Kings have a production deal, will produce.

Colter is coming off his starring role as the Marvel superhero Luke Cage in the Netflix series of the same name, which ran for two seasons. Colter also appeared as the bulletproof hero in Netflix’s “Jessica Jones” and “The Defenders.”
