Netflix has given a 10-episode series order to an adaptation of the novel “Firefly Lane” by author Kristin Hannah.

The series centers on Kate and Tully, best friends who meet as young girls and become inseparable throughout 30 years of ups and downs, successes and failures, depression and disappointments. When an unthinkable betrayal breaks them apart, the two women go their separate ways and it’s unclear whether they will ever be able to reconcile.

“No Tomorrow” and “Witches of East End” alum Maggie Friedman will serve as writer, showrunner and executive producer on the project.

Stephanie Germain will also serve as executive producer, with Hannah aboard as co-executive producer.

“Firefly Lane” becomes Hannah’s third bestseller now in production, following “The Great Alone” and “The Nightingale” both of which are getting feature adaptations at TriStar Pictures. “Breaking Bad’s” Michelle MacLaren is attached to direct “The Nightingale.”

Hannah is repped by CAA in conjunction with the Jane Rotrosen Agency. Germain is repped by CAA and attorney Joel Behr. Friedman is repped by CAA and attorney McKuin Frankel, and managed by Ensemble Entertainment.
