‘On My Block’ Season 2 Teaser Reveals Ruby’s Fate – and Premiere Date (Video)

RIP? Maybe, maybe not

Netflix has dropped the Season 2 teaser for “On My Block,” revealing both when the show will return and Ruby’s fate.

In the nearly four-minute video, we see sidewalk memorials to children and teenagers who have died from violence in Monse, Ruby, Olivia, Jamal, and Cesar’s neighborhood. The trailer ends with Monse and Cesar preparing for a funeral, Jamal enjoying his new stacks of cash, and Ruby’s mother and grandmother grieving over what appears to be a photo of Ruby and Olivia, who were shot at Olivia’s quinceañera at the end of Season 1.

The clip closes on Ruby lying in a casket with his eyes closed. However, he opens them at the very last moment, revealing that he is probably alive.

“On My Block,” co-created by “Awkward” writer and creator Lauren Iungerich with Jeremy Haft and Eddie Gonzalez, stars Sierra Capri, Jason Genao, Brett Gray and Diego Tinoco as a group of street-wise teens navigating both the everyday drama of entering high school and the very real dangers of life in inner-city Los Angeles. The series debuted last year to largely positive reviews and rode strong word-of-mouth to a second-season pickup back in April.

Per Netflix’s description for Season 2, “In the aftermath of tragedy and Jamal’s discovery, the friends lean on each other like never before.”

Last December, Netflix has released the list of its most-binged shows of 2018, with “On My Block” topping the list.

According to the streamer’s data, of all the Netflix originals released between Jan. 1 and Nov. 28, “On My Block” had the highest watch-time-per-viewing session. The list doesn’t necessarily reflect Netflix’s most popular series, rather the ones that enticed viewers to watch the most episodes in a single sitting.

“On My Block” Season 2 launches March 29 on Netflix.
