David Boreanaz Says ‘Angel’ Reunion Might Be ‘in the Works’ for 20th Anniversary (Video)

“I don’t want to give away a lot,” actor says of “Buffy” spinoff’s big birthday this fall

“Buffy the Vampire Slayer” celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2017 and now its spinoff series, “Angel,” is hitting the big 2-0 this fall. In honor of that momentous occasion, David Boreanaz says there is a possibility a reunion might be in the works.

“Well, you know, we’re coming up on our 20 years,” Boreanaz — who played the titular vampire with a soul on The WB series, after originating the role on “Buffy” — said during an appearance on “The Talk” Tuesday, when asked if he’d be down for an “Angel” reunion.

“I mean that’s amazing to have been blessed with a show like that,” he continued. “And that’s really where I started my gig in this acting world. And I love that character. So I will say there may be something coming up. I don’t want to give away a lot. But I can say it’s 20 years coming up this fall, and we may have something in the works.”

Boreanaz starred as Angel, Buffy Summers’ (Sarah Michelle Gellar) much-older — by a couple of centuries — bloodsucking love interest, on the first three seasons of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.” He left the show to star on his self-titled spinoff series from “Buffy” creator Joss Whedon, which launched on The WB in October 1999.

“Angel” ran for five seasons and starred Boreanaz, Charisma Carpenter, Alexis Denisof, J. August Richards, James Marsters, Amy Acker, Mercedes McNab and the late actors Glenn Quinn and Andy Hallett.
