David Blaine Denies Sexual Assault Accusations, Will Cooperate With Any Investigation

Daily Beast reported on Monday that NYPD was investigating the magician after two women accused him

Magician David Blaine denied accusations made by two women that he sexually assaulted them, which were first reported by The Daily Beast on Monday, and intends to cooperate with any investigation.

“David denies the accusations that have been reported and he takes these allegations seriously. He intends to cooperate with any investigation,” a spokesperson for Blaine said. The Daily Beast reported on Monday that Blaine was under investigation by police in New York City after two women accused him of sexual assault, according to a senior NYPD official.

According to the report, the senior official said that detectives with the NYPD’s Special Victims Unit took statements from two women. One of the accusations could fall out of the statute of limitations — one of the women said she was sexually assaulted by Blaine inside of his Manhattan apartment in 1998.

“The NYPD takes sexual assault and rape cases extremely seriously and urges anyone who has been a victim to file a report so we can perform a comprehensive investigation, and offer support and services to survivors,” Sgt. Jessica McRorie, an NYPD spokesperson, said in a statement on Monday.

In 2017, Blaine was accused by former model Natasha Prince of raping her at his London mansion in 2004. Blaine denied the accusation and following an investigation, Scotland Yard detectives decided not to take any further action.

Blaine’s last TV special, “Beyond Magic,” aired in 2016 on ABC. He is scheduled to begin a tour of the U.K. and Ireland in June.
