‘The Loudest Voice’: Fox News Goes to War in First Teaser for Showtime’s Roger Ailes Series (Video)

Russell Crowe stars as the cable news mastermind in limited series debuting Sunday, June 30

Showtime on Tuesday shared the first teaser and a premiere date for its Roger Ailes series “The Loudest Voice.”

“We’re way past politics — it’s war,” says Russell Crowe as the former Fox News chairman in the clip for the seven-part series, which is set to debut on Sunday, June 30.

Based on Gabriel Sherman’s best-selling book, “The Loudest Voice in the Room,” the miniseries will detail Ailes’ rise to power and how he built Fox News into a cable news behemoth, as well as address the sexual harassment accusations and monetary settlements that brought his Fox News reign to an end.

Ailes’ tenure at the network ended in July 2016 following a lawsuit filed by Gretchen Carlson, who accused Ailes of sexual harassment. More women followed Carlson with similar accusations against Ailes. He died in May 2017 at the age of 77.

Naomi Watts stars as Carlson, while Simon McBurney plays legendary media titan Rupert Murdoch. Seth MacFarlane, a frequent critic of Fox News, palys Brian Lewis, the network’s former public relations chief for 17 years, and Ailes’ closest confidante and supporter. Sienna Miller appears as Aisles’ wife, Beth. Josh Charles has also been cast as Carlson’s husband, Casey Close.

Sherman co-wrote the initial episode of the series, co-produced by Showtime and Blumhouse Television, with Oscar winner Tom McCarthy (“Spotlight”). Crowe and McCarthy also serve as executive producers alongside Alex Metcalf; Jason Blum, Marci Wiseman and Jeremy Gold of Blumhouse Television; Liza Chasin of 3dot Productions; and Kari Skogland.
