Science Channel will broadcast UKTV series “Hurricane Man” which features veteran storm chaser Josh Morgerman getting up close and personal with some of the world’s most dangerous storms, the network announced on Wednesday. The series premiered on UKTV’s Dave Channel on March 24.

The eight-episode series finds Morgerman chasing hurricanes and collecting scientific storm data around the world, from remote Japanese cities and the far-north jungles of the Philippines to the coastal waters of America’s Deep South and the Pacific shoreline of Mexico.

“I’m totally stoked Science Channel has chosen to air Hurricane Man. This is the perfect place for me to share the highs and lows of my life as a storm chaser, and this is an audience who’ll dig the science angle, too,” Morgerman said.

“Hurricane Man” also follows the journeys of people who have survived these intense cyclones, spotlighting families that continue to live in the path of the destruction, and local emergency rescue crews who have risked their lives to save others.

“The passion that Josh has for storm chasing is clearly evident,” Lindsey Foster Blumberg, supervising producer of the Science Channel, said. “More importantly, the data that he collects along the way may not exist otherwise and is incredibly useful for scientists whose research depends in part on this vital information.”

“Hurricane Man” is produced for Science Channel by ScreenDog Productions in association with BBC Studios. Ed Kellie will executive producer for ScreenDog, and Lindsey Foster Blumberg will serve as supervising producer for Science Channel.

“Hurricane Man” premieres Tuesday, June 18 at 10/9c on Science Channel.
