Quaid becomes latest Hollywood star to perform an artistic interpretation of President Trump’s tweets

Randy Quaid performed a close-up reading of President Trump’s tweet attacking Bette Midler while under a strobe light in a video he posted to Twitter Tuesday evening.

“Washed up psycho Bette Midler was forced to apologize for a statement she attributed to me that turned out to be totally fabricated by her in order to make your great president look really bad,” Quaid read in a menacing drawl. “She got caught, just like the Fake News Media gets caught. A sick scammer!”

Trump’s original tweet came after Midler posted a fake quote from the president that mocked the intelligence of Republicans, attributed to People Magazine interview in 1998 that never took place.

“If I were to run, I’d run as a Republican. They’re the dumbest group of voters in the country. They believe anything on Fox News. I could lie and they’d still eat it up. I bet my numbers would be terrific,” the fake quote reads.

“He certainly knew his crowd,” she said after sharing a meme with the quote. Midler later deleted the post and apologized for sharing it.

“I apologize; this quote turns out to be a fake from way back in ’15-16. Don’t know how I missed it, but it sounds SO much like him that I believed it was true!,” the singer/actress wrote on Twitter Tuesday.

It’s unclear what motivated Quaid to weigh in on the matter. A rep for the actor did not immediately respond to request for comment from TheWrap.

Quaid’s reading was not the first time Hollywood has taken an artistic approach to the president’s tweets. Mark Hamill previously did a rendition of a different tweet in the voice of The Joker.

On Wednesday, Midler herself addressed the imbroglio and thanked her supporters for helping her through it.

“I want to thank everyone who came to my defense last night during my personal Battle of the Bulge with he who must not be named. Your wit and good nature really lifted my spirits; as a newly washed up psycho, I am very grateful for your thoughts and prayers,” she said.
