Bernie McGee, one of the stars of TLC’s “Seeking Sister Wife,” has died at the age of 41.

“Our hearts go out to the McGee family following the loss of husband and father, Bernie McGee,” TLC said in a statement posted to its website on Tuesday. “Our thoughts are with them during this difficult time.”

Citing his wife, Paige, the network wrote that McGee came down with heat stroke and suffered a heart attack while riding his bike over the weekend. He died at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi on Saturday, according to TLC.

The McGees were one of four families featured on the second season of the polygamy-centric dating show earlier this year, with the family seeking a new sister wife for Bernie despite the challenges caused by Paige’s jealousy.

“Bernie loved the outdoors especially camping, hiking and riding his bike,” according to an obituary posted by the Mississippi funeral home handling his service. “He never met a stranger and loved his family and friends very much. Bernie was full of life.”

He is survived by his wife, Paige, and their five sons.
