Hulu’s Scripted Wu-Tang Clan Series Releases Its First Trailer (Video)

“Wu-Tang: An American Saga” premieres Aug. 4

Hulu has released the first trailer for its upcoming scripted series “Wu-Tang Clan: An American Saga,” introducing the actors who will be playing the members of the famed hip-hop group.

Set in early ’90s New York at the height of the crack cocaine epidemic, the show tracks the Clan’s formation. The group’s mastermind Bobby Diggs — aka The RZA — strives to unite a dozen young, black men that are torn between music and crime but eventually rise to become the unlikeliest of American success stories.

Inspired by The RZA’s books “The Wu-Tang Manual” and “Tao of Wu,” the series is co-created and written by The RZA and “Watchman” writer Alex Tse. It will debut on the streaming service on Wednesday, Sept. 4.

The series stars Ashton Sanders, Shameik Moore, Dave East, Siddiq Saunderson, Marcus Callender, Julian Elijah Martinez, Zolee Griggs, Erika Alexander, TJ Atoms and Johnell Young.

Tse, The RZA, Brian Grazer, Michael Rosenberg and Francie Calfo executive produce the drama from Imagine Television.
