“Pose” star Angelica Ross has joined the cast of “American Horror Story: 1984” in an “unforgettable role,” creator Ryan Murphy said on Wednesday.

“Last night’s episode of Pose required us all to dig deep — @janetmock as writer, myself as writer and director, but most of all our incredible leading ladies,” Murphy wrote in an Instagram post. “I must applaud @angelicaross for her tour de force of a performance as Candy Abundance Ferocity. It has been a gift to watch her blossom as a true star and undeniable talent.”

“Though she will always be our Candy, and our show suffers this incredible loss, I am elated that the world will get much more Angelica,” he continued. “She is joining the American Horror Story family in another unforgettable role. Congrats Angelica for making history, leaping from #PoseFX to #AHS1984. Welcome to the #AHS family!”

We won’t reveal here how exactly Ross’ Candy exited “Pose” for readers who don’t want Tuesday’s episode spoiled for them, so you can make what you will of Murphy’s comment about “this incredible loss.”

Emma Roberts and Gus Kenworthy are the only previously announced cast members for Season 9 of the FX anthology series, which we learned Monday will not star “AHS” staple Sarah Paulson.

A representative for “AHS” studio 20th Century Fox confirmed Ross’ casting to TheWrap shortly after Murphy made the announcement.

In classic “AHS” fashion, we don’t know much about “1984,” except that the theme is ’80s slasher films.

“I will tell you nothing, except that I think it’s awesome,” executive producer Tim Minear told TheWrap in May. “I think it’s gonna be really scary but a lot of fun, like it always is. And that if you have a taste for ’80s horror, you’re in for a treat.”
