USA Orders ‘Cannonball’ Series, Where Loud People Will Fall Far Into Water

Series involves “splashy” challenges for a cash prize

USA Network has picked up “Cannonball,” a competition show that pits contestants against one another in “splashy” challenges for a cash prize, to series, the network announced on Wednesday.

According to USA, “the series features 16 larger-than-life personalities willing to jump into the deep end and compete in four rounds of physical challenges – from the speed slide Mega-Ramp to a thrilling Drop Tower to the explosive Air Cannon and more. Each round eliminates more hopefuls, until finally one champion remains.”

“‘Cannonball’ is pure fun in the sun for the whole family to enjoy,” Heather Olander, senior vice president of alternative development and programming for USA Network, said. “Filled with splashes, laughs and friendly competition, we are all thrilled to add such an energetic series to our schedule.”

The competition show joins USA’s slate of unscripted programming, including family docuseries “Chrisley Knows Best,” “Growing Up Chrisley,” and “The Radkes,” as well as “Miz & Mrs.” Upcoming programming includes “Straight Up Steve Austin,” “The Biggest Loser” reboot and reality dating series “Temptation Island.”

The 10-episode series will premiere in 2020 and is produced by Talpa Media USA and ITV Entertainment. It’s based on the original format by MasMedia B.V. and licensed by Talpa Global B.V., and was created by John de Mol, who executive produces along with Shye Sutherland, Keith Geller, Bernie Schaeffer and Stijn Bakkers.
