Veteran sportscaster Curt Menefee is about to take on some new hosting duties. The longtime Fox NFL Sunday host is joining A&E’s new competition series “America’s Top Dog,” which features K9 police and civilian dogs (plus their handlers) competing in an obstacle course for cash prizes.

Menefee will be joined by ex-Marine and former Secret Service member-turned-dog-trainer Nick White, with sideline reporting by Jamie Little. The series comes from MGM’s Big Fish Entertainment and is set to premiere this winter on A&E.

In each hour-long episode, four police dog teams — including some fan-favorites from A&E’s popular program “Live PD” — and one civilian dog team will face off for the title of “Top Dog” over three rounds of competition. Tested for speed, agility and teamwork, the dogs will have to complete a series of tasks including finding scented items in a maze and apprehending and taking down a suspect in a bite suit. Each week’s winning team will receive $10,000, plus an additional $5,000 to donate to the animal-based charity of their choice. For the finale, the winners from each week will return for a final obstacle course, competing for $25,000 in cash and the ultimate title of “America’s Top Dog.”

Menefee and White will provide commentary as they watch the action unfold during each episode. Little, who has experience covering the pit road for Fox NASCAR as well as reporting at the 2019 Westminster Kennel Club Show, will do sideline reporting and speak with the teams as they make their way through the competition.

“America’s Top Dog” is produced for A&E by MGM’s Big Fish Entertainment. Dan Cesareo, Lucilla D’Agostino, Jordana Starr and Holly Wofford executive produce for Big Fish, while Elaine Frontain Bryant, Shelly Tatro, Sean Gottlieb and Brad Holcman executive produce for A&E Network.
