‘The Outsider’ Teaser: Jason Bateman’s Terry Might Be a Murderer (Video)

Stephen King adaptation debuts on HBO Jan. 12

HBO released the first teaser trailer for “The Outsider,” featuring Jason Bateman playing the key suspect in the murder of 11-year-old Frankie Peterson.

Set to debut Jan. 12, 2020, the 10-episode series is adapted from Stephen King’s best-selling novel of the same name. According to HBO, the series follows police detective Ralph Anderson (Ben Mendelsohn), as he sets out to investigate the mutilated body of 11-year-old Frankie Peterson found in the Georgia woods. The mysterious circumstances surrounding this horrifying crime leads Ralph, still grieving the recent death of his own son, to bring in unorthodox private investigator Holly Gibney (Cynthia Erivo), whose uncanny abilities he hopes will help explain the unexplainable.

Richard Price (“The Wire,” “The Night Of”) writes and executive produces, along with Andrew Bernstein, Marty Bowen for Temple Hill Entertainment, Jack Bender, Michael Costigan for Aggregate Films, and Dennis Lehane. The series is produced by Bateman’s Aggregrate Films and Temple Hill Entertainment in association with Civic Center Media.
