Telemundo actor Alejandro Sandí and a French citizen went missing Sunday after robbers abducted them and stole a vehicle at a popular tourist destination in Mexico.

Sandí is a Mexican actor known for the Telemundo TV narco series “El Señor de los Cielos,” or “Lord of the Skies.”

Two friends of the actor say they were present in the car with him when he was abducted. Actresses Esmeralda Ugalde — sister of Mexican recording artist Ana Bárbara — and Vanessa Aria explained the experience in a video posted to Instagram Sunday.

Ugalde and Aria were riding in an SUV with Sandí when robbers cut them off, abducted him, and stole their SUV, bags and cellphones, the women said  via translation. They added that they have already filed a report with Mexican authorities, and that they don’t know anything more about Sandi’s whereabouts.

The incident took took place near a volcanic mountain peak called Nevado de Toluca in Mexico, a national park and popular tourist destination west of Mexico City.

In a press briefing, France’s Foreign Ministry confirmed that a French citizen was also abducted, but did not provide the person’s name, according to the Associated Press. French officials are working with Mexican authorities to retrieve the person.

Telemundo TV and NBCUniversal did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment.
