‘A Monster Calls’ Trailer Shows Liam Neeson Saving Felicity Jones’ Son (Video)

Juan Antonio Bayona is directing the visually spectacular adaptation of Patrick Ness’ acclaimed novel for Focus

Focus Features has released the first trailer for Juan Antonio Bayona’s adaptation of “A Monster Calls,” based on the acclaimed children’s novel by Patrick Ness.

Newcomer Lewis MacDougall stars alongside Felicity Jones, Sigourney Weaver, Toby Kebbell and Liam Neeson as the titular monster.

“A Monster Calls” is a visually spectacular drama about 12-year-old Conor (MacDougall) who attempts to deal with his mother’s (Jones) illness and the bullying of his classmates by escaping into a fantastical world of monsters and fairy tales that explore courage, loss, and faith.

Focus will release the film on Oct. 14, 2016. It is expected to be an awards contender based on the novel’s esteemed reputation.
