To be eligible for awards, materials must be at the Academy between July 11 and Dec. 1, depending on the category

The Academy has set submission dates for films and achievements to be eligible for the 87th Academy Awards.

These newly announced dates do not have any effect on the previously announced dates for the Oscars, which include nominations on Jan. 15 and the show on Feb. 22, and ballot deadlines of Jan. 8 for nominations and Feb. 17 for final voting.

Submissions for scientific and technical achievements have the earliest deadline, July 11, because they require extensive vetting and research. The latest deadline is Dec. 1, for music submissions and screen credits forms.

In all cases, submissions are due at the Academy by 5 p.m. Complete rules are available at www.oscars.org/rules.

While films are eligible if they open any time in 2014, paperwork must be submitted to the Academy prior to the film’s opening for documentaries and shorts released in the last quarter of the year, animated features released after Oct. 31 and all December releases.
