Forlorn girl fall has officially begun now that Adele’s new single “Easy on Me” has dropped.
The “Easy on Me” music video debuted at midnight Friday United Kingdom time.
In the 5-minute video, Adele is shown packing up her things to leave. She picks up her briefcase, walks out the door of her house, makes a quick phone call and sets out on a drive past a For Sale sign. These shots take place in black and white.
“I had no time to choose what I chose to do,” she sings as a newly wed couple drives past her on the rode, cans tied to their car. Music sheets fly out of her packed truck as she drives. Shots alternate between her driving and her sitting in the house she left.
At the second chorus, the video changes to color. In the end of the video after intense vocals and serious lyrics, it seems like there’s a cut and Adele laughs.
Adele announced the release of this single Oct. 5 when she posted a short snippet of piano notes over a black and white video. She confirmed that her new album — to be released November 19 — will officially be titled “30” in an Instagram post.
When a fan asked about the subject of her next album in an Instagram live video on Saturday Oct. 9, Adele answered, “divorce, baby, divorce”.
In her album announcement, Adele revealed that she started working on her fourth album almost three years ago.
“There I was knowingly — willingly, even, throwing myself into a maze of absolute mess and inner turmoil!” she wrote. “I’ve learned a log of blistering home truths about myself along the way, I’ve shed many layers but also wrapped myself in new ones.”
She also wrote that she feels ready to finally put “30” out because “I’ve never felt more peaceful in my life.”
After calling the album “my ride or die throughout the most turbulent period of my life,” Adele wrote, “I’ve painstakingly rebuilt my house and my heart since then and this album narrates it. Home is where the heart is x.”
